Semifit: Blended Learning, Digital Transformation and Education for Active Citizenship

The third event of our project Semifit took place in Trento (IT) between October 14 and 20, 2019. The event was hosted by the project partner Centro per la Cooperazione Internazionale. Among other topics related to Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education between analogue and digital a focus was set on blended learning. Furthermore the educators and researchers discussed how education might tackle the social, cultural, and economical issues related to digitization. The exchange between the educators and educational providers in the Semifit project is supported by the programme Erasmus+.

DIGIT-AL: Kick-off Meeting of the New Project on Digital Transformation and Adult Learning

The project team from seven partner organizations met in Riga between October 24 – 27, 2019 for the first meeting. The project team discussed the steps of the two year cooperation project DIGIT-AL and planned the first material they aim to be develop together. The Educational Development Center in Riga was hosting the group with hospitality and as well the necessary analogue and digital infrastructure.

The project aims to inspire adult educators and educational providers on how to include the topic of digital transformation of our European society in their courses and curricula and to empower adult learners for understanding and actively co-creating these social, cultural and economical changes.

Project EntreComp 360: Promoting Initiative and Engagement across Sectors

Project period: 09/2019 – 12/2022

This project is supporting actors in all sectors of the lifelong learning system to enhance the development, validation and recognition of the entrepreneurship key competence across lifelong learning. It will do this by creating the Entrepreneurship360 platform as a one-stop-shop to provide guidance, collate tools, share practice, learn through online training and connect those working onthe practical implementation of the EU framework EntreComp into learning and work.

Project: DIGIT-AL – Digital Transformation in Adult Learning for Active Citizenship

The digital transformation is challenging the European citizens in multiple ways: As employees at our workspace, as learners of all ages, or as conscious, self-responsible, and democratic citizens. Digital transformation in its effects relates to vast aspects of peoples everyday life. Therefore, the project identifies approaches, topics and tools, how to include and address the thematic field of digital transformation in adult education.

DARE statement on the draft contingency plan for the COE budget – May 2019

Democratic Citizenship and Participation are the units comprising education and youth issues within the Directorate General II for Democracy in the Council of Europe (COE). Both play a substantial role for promoting the values of the Council of Europe among young people in its member states and neighboring countries. The fifty states to the European Cultural Convention, initiated by the Council of Europe, therefore focus their activities on enhancing young people’s commitment to human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

Project: Focus Group Competences for Democratic Culture

The Council of Europe’s Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) was adopted in 2017 and is setting standards for Education for Democratic Citizenship/Human Rights Education in schools. For the NECE network DARE is organizing a focus group aiming to mainstream the framework, together with polis – The Austrian Centre for Citizenship Education in Schools and AdB – Association of German Educational Organisations.

Project SemiFit: Exchange on Quality of Education

SemiFit is a series of three seminars for intercultural trainers in Human Rights Education. DARE members and freelancing trainers selected through an open call met and shared their approaches and criteria for enhancing the quality of education regarding empowerment and civic  competencies of individuals.  They discussed the topic from three perspectives. First, the quality dimension regarding the individual trainer following the E.T.S. Second, the quality conditions in planning and managing cooperation between different partners in projects and programs. Third, the qualitative aspects perceived from the perspective of Education for Democratic Citizenship/Human Rights Education

The exchange took place on December 1-6, 2018 in Almuñécar, Spain. It was supported by a funding of European Commission (Erasmus + programme).

For a Strong Citizens Participation Perspective in the New Rights and Values Programme (2021 -2027) – Oct 2018

The DARE network acknowledges the European Commission’s initiative to provide the possibility for bigger impact of the current Europe for Citizens programme by aligning it with the content-wise related Equality and Rights and Daphne programmes under the proposed new Rights and Values Programme (2021-2027).

The suggested title Citizens Engagement and Participation should be the guiding idea for the design of the new programme. Its aim should clearly go beyond being an information tool for interested citizens and contribute concretely to support the democratic engagement of citizens and civil society by providing them adequate support.

Project SemiFit: Seminars for Intercultural Trainers in Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education

SemiFit is a series of fora for experienced trainers in Human Rights Education and Education for Democratic Citizenship. It aims to create a space for experienced trainers from different fields to exchange competences (VASK: Values, Attitudes, Skills, Knowledge) and experience on the different domains of intercultural trainings.
