Competence Explorer

A Tool to Make Competence Based Education a Reality

Too many competence models, too little overview? This explorer compares different frameworks that address transversal competences. It gives educators a rough insight into the different frameworks.

It can be used to check which competences are particularly relevant for one’s own work, or to check which competences one would like to work on further, either oneself or with the learners. The explorer also provides information on how each framework deals with certain transversal competences (competences that are important in many activities and contexts).

Partner meeting of the LICEAL project hosted in Sanremo

Hosted by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL) in the wonderful Villa Ormond. DARE is partner in the project LICEAL – Linking Citizenship and Employability in Adult Learning. We gathered positive feedbacks on the final draft of guideline for educators, how to support the development of transversal competences and to connect citizenship and employability-related skills; and for the Training Design Step-by-Step. A practical guide for educators. This guide can help to address cross-cutting competences that are important in different educational and professional contexts and in different areas of learning. In particular, the guide aims to emphasize the potential of skills acquired in active citizenship, democracy and human rights education and civic engagement for professional development.

Tool: Training Design Step-by-Step

This tool supports educators in designing competence-oriented learning processes – with a focus on transversal competences that are relevant in many areas of life and social roles. Supplement to the guidelines for educators: Empowering Adults: Life, Career Path, and Active Citizen. Created in the project LICEAL Linking Citizenship and Employability Perspectives in Adult Learning.

With practical checklists. Available in English and German (Italian, French and Spanish translations will be published by early 2025).

LICEAL-Project: Practice and Policy between Citizenship and VET

On invitation of the partner organisation S-Nodi (Comitato Promotore S-NODI Gabriele Nigro), DARE was participating in the partner meeting of the LICEAL project. Accomodated in the space of the historic Barolo Social District (Opera Barolo), the partners planned the last year of activities in the project.
