Compendium: The future of young people’s political participation: questions, challenges and opportunities

In the framework of the EU-CoE youth partnership DARE project manager Ramon Martinez and Laden Yurttagüler were publishing the Compendium on youth participation which is available as PDF for Download at the website of the youth partnership. It is giving insights in participation as a key topic for Education for Democratic Citizenship/Human Rights Education and also showing practices from across Europe.

The compendium was developed after the symposium “The future of young people’s political participation: questions, challenges and opportunities” hosted by the European Youth Centre Strasbourg in September 2019.

Project Demogames: Taking democracy games very seriously

The second meeting of the project Democracy and Games: Analog and Digital Game-Based Learning Tools for Youth Work (2019-2-DE04-KA205-018330) was held in Zurich from the 14-th to the 15-th of February 2020 and brought together ten participants representing GIGA (German Institute of Global and Area Studies), Demokrative (Zurich), DARE Network, Intercultural Institute Timisoara, DA2 Trucados (Almunecar) and Culture Goes Europe (Erfurt).

EntreComp 360: Kick-off-meeting

On invitation of the project coordinator University of Iceland we were kicking off EntreComp360. During the next 3 years we will build a one stop shop platform for all Entrecomp related tools, practices, methodology, projects, and communities.

We bring together the information, guidance and support on developing civil engagement and entrepreneurship-related competences, based on the European competency framework EntreComp. It puts emphasis onto ideation and creativity, initiative and cooperation, pulling together different resources and mobilising people and teams.

Project DEMOGAMES

Project period: 09/19 – 06/22

Democracy places high demands on citizens. Political decisions have an impact on many different areas of life, they often affect future generations or neighboring countries and they are influenced by international and global developments. One sixth of the world’s population is young and the importance of youth participation for the future of economic, societal and political development is widely acknowledged. Democracy education enables young people to recognize and represent their interests, to participate in political processes and, in doing so, to meet their fellow human beings and their concerns with respect. The project DEMOGAMES is based on the didactic approach of game-based learning and applies it to teaching young citizens on democracy.

Semifit: Blended Learning, Digital Transformation and Education for Active Citizenship

The third event of our project Semifit took place in Trento (IT) between October 14 and 20, 2019. The event was hosted by the project partner Centro per la Cooperazione Internazionale. Among other topics related to Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education between analogue and digital a focus was set on blended learning. Furthermore the educators and researchers discussed how education might tackle the social, cultural, and economical issues related to digitization. The exchange between the educators and educational providers in the Semifit project is supported by the programme Erasmus+.
