Letter from the Board

Dear readers of e-DARE,

several of our member organization currently conduct researches on EDC with children aged 8-12 within the framework of the EU supported project ENGAGE. After the phase of national stocktaking studies it is planned to identify missing links, material gaps, successful existing practice as well as barriers that hinder citizenship education and children's rights education as well as neighbouring fields such as young people's participation in local and regional life. DARE as resource partner in ENGAGE is already looking forward to discuss the first key findings.

In the project EDC for ALL – qualifying and mainstreaming Education for Democratic Citizenship – we are currently in the final phase of test runs of educational material that are targeted to offer easy entry points for working with diverse groups on EDC topics. Here, too, we are looking forward to finally release the material.

On 30th April the deadline for all E+ projects in the field of youth come up, while adult education strategic partnerships already need to be handed in on 31st March. Please again consider to invite DARE to your project consortia: the DARE PIC is 949700132, for further info on any involvement of DARE and what DARE can bring to your consortia you might directly contact me:

At first glance after one year of working with E+ we have the feeling there is quite positive chances for EDC/HRE projects in both fields.

In just a few months the DARE General Assembly and (Norwegian) Spring Academy will take place in Oslo (June 17-19). Please think about joining the DARE network if your organization has not done so already. If you are already a member please consider a board candidature as there are board elections upcoming.

Best regards on behalf of the Board

Georg Pirker
Secretary of the DARE Network
